The Federal Ministry of Health together with the Corporate Accountability & Public Participation Africa(CAPPA) organised the National Conference on Sugar Sweteenes Beverage (SSB) Tax and Healthcare Financing in Nigeria. Theme for the conference was Health Tax as a Recipe for Improved Healthcare Financing.
The the opening remarks by the Honourable Ministed represented by Pharm (Mrs.) Olubunmi Aribeana, the Director, Food and Drugs Services Department FMOH, she stated that effects of NCDs caused by the consumption of SSBs are the cause of the rising number of deaths in the country over the years.
She indicated that the tax will improve health systems and public health for the good of the nation. She invited all to seize the opportunity to reaffirm commitment to a healthy lifestyle for Improved public health outcomes.
Welcome address was also given by the Executive Director CAPPA, Mr. Akinbode OLUWAFEMI as he ensured all that with all efforts Nigeria will be repositioned for health infrastructure as we move towards healthy options.
